Seo taiji – Bermuda [Triangle]

He released a new single ‘Bermuda’. He’s valuated as one of the krean legendary musicians. He’s famous for his creative music, not limited by genre and good arranged marketing.. Also his baby face(Guess his age..if you know that..what a surprise…) and the perfact harmonious voice for his colorful music styles. In my opinion, he is without a match in his own unique music idea & tryout. This song is connected to the theme of ruined sex. I bet You will be addicted this song..^^

I’ve listened to this song several times and it still has not gotten old. This maybe my favorite song by him to date. Who is the woman in the video? She is soooo beautiful! Thanks for posting this.

He’s 37. And not married yet. No girlfriend either. At least… it’s what he said in an interview I saw a while ago.

About how Taiji is influential or not, I don’t care but then who is nowadays? Musical synthesis happens everywhere. Taiji started the whole kpop thing and it’s having great influence in Asia and many other parts of the world where have considerable fan base. And when mention kpop he will be remembered.

If you see what kind of people likes Britney Spears you’ll know.

Also I didn’t say Taiji was influential worldwide, and just because MJ was popular doesn’t make a him a great musician, there’s no song of him that we can consider “great”.

Taiji borrowed some of korn’s concept purposely but he ameliorates to make it more pleasant and listenable. And you find korn influence only on two or three songs of his 6th album.

what exactly do you mean by ‘refined’? and what makes Michael Jackson’s music ‘unrefined’? Or is that just defined by what you personally think of their music? Because if that’s the case then there’s no point in me arguing over your personal opinion.

and btw i wouldn’t say he made ‘radical’ changes to nu-metal, rock and the genres as a whole. maybe in korea, but a lot of people see korn’s influence in his songs, particularly from the 5th/6th albums.

MJ is for the unrefined mass.

The only difference is the he’s not well known, maybe because of his personality of reclusiveness. But let’s make an analogy here, why videos of other Korean mediocre artists have more view counts than Taiji’s, why Hide’s videos have more views than Taiji’s despite Taiji’s superiority in musicality, but that;s moot point since there are more Japanese than Koreans and there are more unrefined people than refined.

I’ve heard about these bands, the only band I didn’t know was Maximum. Yeah, but did they leave one genre to another like Taiji did or they just stayed in “rock” which is the case here? I’ve checked hide’s videos, I don’t see any similarities except that Taiji is superior than him in every way lol

Regarded even higher than any artist not just asian, but western? Regarded by whom? Maybe by Korean artists. I understand your idolization of Seo Taiji, and that of his fans, but let’s not pretend that he’s a substantial worldwide influence, on the scale of say, michael jackson. He’s undoubtedly retooled the way music is made in Korea, but unless you can show me how he’s influenced music in other places around the world, your argument only pertains to Korea.

Yes, all the bands I have mentioned made such radical changes in their music, though I doubt this argument will convince you much, seeing as you have never heard of these bands nor are interested in extending your scope of asian music knowledge. And to a certain degree, I can see the logic behind the claims you make about Taiji. Yes, he did bring about radical changes between genres. In Korea. And you need only look at hide and his music style in order to see similarities.

Also Taiji is to be regarded even higher than any artist not just Asian but most western artists out there for his musical excellence and taste.

    July 11th, 2010 at 22:20 | #23

I don’t know about these bands you mentioned nor am I interested but did they make radical changes in concept and genre from album to album like Taiji did from pop to rap, classical, rock pop, nu metal, indie rock then to natural pound etc? What similarities are there between him and HIDE in musical style? Try listening to a song called “??” from his 3rd album it’s a classical BTW you can find on youtube just to have an idea how genius he is, not just musically but poetically as well.

Dir en Grey, Maximum the Hormone, Miyavi, and let’s not forget HIDE(a lot of similarities between him and Seo Taiji btw)…to name a few. experimentation is not all that uncommon in Asian music.
